Bottom line
The sleeper story here is defense - they're winning multiple F-47 awards and booking growth that 'significantly surpassed' prior year, but everyone's fixated on commercial aftermarket numbers. The obvious headline is 11% aftermarket acceleration in Q4, but the real constraint is acquisition integration execution, where TDG is being unusually vague about timeline to fix 200 bps of margin dilution. Mike's quote about being 'stung by unforeseen events' signals less confidence in OEM predictability than his usual swagger. My view changes if they can't provide specific Simmons margin improvement targets by Q2 2026 or if defense bookings don't translate to revenue growth acceleration.

The 30-second version

  • The real story: Defense new business wins are multiplying while everyone obsesses over commercial
  • Commercial aftermarket accelerated to 11% in Q4 vs 6% in Q3, but guidance for 2026 slows to high single-digits
  • Two recent acquisitions diluting margins by 200 basis points, but management can't specify timeline to fix it
