Bottom line
The sleeper story is inventory whiplash - commercial OEM customers overordered during the Boeing strike and are now destocking, creating a temporary revenue headwind that masks healthy underlying bookings growth approaching double digits. The obvious headline is aftermarket deceleration to 6%, but this is mostly engine mix and regional divergence they won't quantify anymore. The binding constraint remains supply chain recovery - they're still not back to 2018-2019 efficiency levels despite 'a heck of a lot better' progress. Lisman's key quote: 'The impact on shipments should be temporary. There are clear signs that the negative year-over-year commercial OEM revenue trends will turn positive in time.' My view changes if Q4 commercial OEM doesn't return to positive growth as their guidance mathematically requires, or if they keep dodging geographic aftermarket breakdowns next quarter.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper story: Commercial OEM destocking is quietly unwinding inventory bubble built up during Boeing strike
  • Aftermarket growth decelerated to 6% but management isn't panicking about the obvious economic headwinds
  • They stopped breaking out commercial aftermarket by geography - that's a tell when growth rates diverge
