Bottom line
The sleeper story is custom silicon operating leverage finally showing up in the OpEx line, with sequential increases well below seasonal norms due to NRE contra-revenue. While everyone focuses on the AI revenue beat, the real value creation is happening in margin expansion. However, the massive inventory build ($170M) for just 3% sequential revenue growth suggests they're pre-positioning for a much stronger H1 than guidance implies. The binding constraint isn't demand (which is clearly strong) but management's willingness to provide visibility on what 'very significantly above $2.5B' actually means. Murphy's quote 'we're leaving this year open-ended' suggests either massive upside or deteriorating visibility. My view changes if they quantify the AI target or if inventory conversion disappoints in Q1-Q2.

The 30-second version

  • SLEEPER: Custom silicon operating leverage finally kicking in
  • AI revenue 'very significantly' above $2.5B target, but no new number
  • Inventory up 20% Q/Q vs 3% revenue guide screams stronger H1
