Bottom line
The sleeper story is four quarters of chemistry equipment orders creating an annuity-like chemistry revenue stream that nobody's modeling correctly, especially with 'very high attach rates' to AI-driven PCB complexity. Yes, NAND drove the beat, but management's repeated warnings about 'lumpiness' and 'fluctuation' signal they've lost visibility into what was supposedly a multi-quarter upgrade cycle just last quarter. The binding constraint is customer NAND upgrade timing, not demand, which explains the defensive Q3 guide. Most revealing quote: 'It can be lumpy. And certainly, our customers are going to tell us when they need it.' My view changes if they quantify the chemistry attach rate or if NAND upgrades accelerate in Q3 instead of moderating.

The 30-second version

  • Chemistry equipment orders signal AI-driven PCB supercycle nobody's pricing in
  • NAND upgrade cycle driving beat but management's hedging hard on sustainability
  • Tariff mitigation mysteriously working better than expected with zero revenue impact
