Bottom line
The sleeper story is MiniMed separation as a margin catalyst - removing a business with 'lower gross margin rate than the rest' creates structural improvement starting FY27. The obvious CAS success is real, but the bigger story is the margin mix finally turning positive in H2 FY27 as catheter sales outpace capital equipment. The binding constraint is mapper hiring to scale CAS installations, though they're 'staying ahead of it' with dedicated EP talent. Geoff's most revealing quote: 'Where other companies see a mature market, our Cardiac Rhythm Management sees opportunity and innovates and drives the market.' This captures their innovation-first approach across all segments. My view changes if Symplicity's 50x website traffic surge doesn't convert to meaningful procedure volumes in FY27.

The 30-second version

  • The MiniMed separation is actually a financial inflection catalyst hidden in plain sight
  • CAS is becoming a $2B run-rate business but the capital equipment drag is quietly improving
  • Symplicity crossed the $100M annualized threshold but the patient demand surge tells a bigger story
