Bottom line
The sleeper story is that Infosys has become a third-party reseller with pass-through revenue now approaching 10%, creating artificial volatility and degrading revenue quality permanently. Yes, they beat on margins and raised guidance, but the top-5 client disaster (down 6%+ sequentially) that management blamed on 'furloughs' is either productivity givebacks or contract renegotiations they're hiding. The binding constraint is their dependence on mega-deals that bring low-quality revenue and distort true operating performance. Jayesh admitting 'volume growth was quite soft' despite 5,600 new hires tells you everything. My view changes if Q4 shows clean revenue growth without third-party props and top-5 clients actually recover.

The 30-second version

  • Third-party revenue seasonality is the new reality, not a one-off
  • Financial services revival masks a devastating top-5 client collapse
  • Net unbilled plunge of $323M is either amazing execution or channel stuffing reversal
