Bottom line
The sleeper story is that volume inflection finally happened after multiple quarters, but management won't tell you by how much, suggesting it's modest. Yes, FS recovery and margin expansion look good, but the binding constraint remains unchanged: clients are only buying cost takeout, not transformation, and Salil literally said transformation is 'funded massively through cost take out.' Most revealing quote: 'The actual [GenAI] projects are not large revenue projects,' which is the first honest assessment of AI economics we've heard from any IT services CEO. My view changes if volume growth exceeds 2% or if discretionary spending actually improves beyond just US financial services.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper: Volume growth turned positive after several quarters while everyone obsesses over the guidance raise
  • Financial services recovery in US is real but narrowly focused on mortgages, cards, and capital markets
  • The vanishing metric: Management stopped breaking down the revenue impact components and won't specify how much of the 50bps one-timer was recovery vs timing
