Bottom line
The sleeper story is Duke's speed-to-power operational advantage creating a data center signing acceleration machine - they signed 2.7 GW in Q1 alone, more than half their entire 2025 total. The obvious headline is strong ESA growth, but the real story is execution discipline with 2/3 already under construction while competitors struggle with permitting and interconnection. The binding constraint isn't demand (15.4 GW pipeline) but their ability to maintain construction schedule discipline as they scale the largest utility build program in the industry. Harry's most revealing comment: 'Our ESAs require having zoning nailed down, having permits in place' - this execution filter is their competitive moat. My view changes if Q2 ESA signings fall below 1 GW or if any of the 5 GW under construction shows meaningful delays.
