Bottom line
The sleeper story everyone's missing: Textron is becoming a CapEx-intensive business disguised as an aerospace growth play - $650M CapEx in 2026 vs $267M in 2025 while free cash flow craters. The obvious headline is MV-75 acceleration and aviation recovery, but the binding constraint is margin conversion - they delivered 36% revenue growth in Q4 with flat margins, breaking their own productivity narrative. Most revealing quote from new CEO Lisa Atherton: 'We have to do what we say we're going to do' - sounds like prior management overpromised. The eAviation segment elimination is accounting cleanup, not operational improvement. My view changes if they hit 20-25% incremental margins on the next $500M of aviation revenue or if MV-75 LRIP margins exceed low single digits post-adjustment.

The 30-second version

  • MV-75 is becoming a CapEx black hole disguised as acceleration
  • Aviation margins flatlining despite 36% revenue spike signals deeper efficiency problems
  • Textron quietly eliminated eAviation segment to hide $63M annual losses
