Bottom line
The sleeper story is Oncor's capital plan just became a $55-60 billion opportunity through 2030 - bigger than Sempra's entire current 5-year plan - with $2.7B in binding customer collateral proving this isn't just pipeline talk. Management perfectly timed the $10B SIP sale to eliminate all equity needs right as this Texas tsunami hits. The binding constraint isn't demand (210 GW in the queue) but execution capacity at this unprecedented scale. Jeff Martin's most telling quote: 'We planned for this... we launched a capital recycling program to fortress our balance sheet so we can fund this thing efficiently.' My view changes if Oncor can't demonstrate specific supply chain commitments for the incremental $11B+ in annual spending.

The 30-second version

  • SLEEPER: Texas transmission bonanza just got 30% bigger with real binding contracts
  • KKR deal proceeds perfectly timed for Texas capital tsunami
  • RED FLAG: California earnings quality deteriorating behind Texas growth story
