Bottom line
The sleeper story is data center doubling from 'low single digits' of revenue - this could quietly become 4-5% of sales and drive outperformance as hyperscalers replace commercial controls with industrial PLCs. The headline margin beat looks great but they're explicitly guiding sequential compression due to memory inflation and merit increases. The binding constraint is still customer CapEx uncertainty - they have capacity and products but need broad-based capital release across auto and CPG. Most revealing: Blake's comment that they 'need to see a little bit more' evidence before raising the guide despite strong Q2 results. My view changes if they restore disclosure of new capacity order growth rates or if data center revenue exceeds 5% of total sales by year-end.

The 30-second version

  • Data center business doubling YoY is the quiet revenue driver everyone's missing
  • 22.5% enterprise margin beat their own 22% back-half guide, but they're guiding down sequentially
  • They stopped breaking out 'new capacity' orders after hyping it as double-digit growth driver
