Bottom line
The sleeper story is the G&A restructuring machine they've built - this 15% cut is just the opening act of a multi-year cost reset that nobody's modeling. Yes, 2026 production drops 200K oz as mines transition, but they're telegraphing a structural cost advantage that persists beyond the commodity cycle. The binding constraint isn't production or reserves, it's capital allocation discipline with $2.7B burning a hole in their pocket while generating $4.5B annual FCF. 'We will remain disciplined within the framework' was said five times - they're fighting the urge to overpay for growth. My view changes if they break character and pursue major M&A instead of grinding down unit costs and buying back stock at these levels.

The 30-second version

  • The G&A sledgehammer that nobody's pricing in
  • 2026 production cliff is bigger than they're admitting
  • Balance sheet optionality creating capital allocation FOMO
