Bottom line
The sleeper story is customers with record-low inventories are deliberately refusing December deliveries, scheduling March instead to window-dress year-end balance sheets, proving the 'recovery' is artificial timing not real demand. While Street celebrates 6% growth and Gen 6 semiconductors, the binding constraint is customer psychology: they'd rather risk shortages than hold inventory, explaining why operating cash flow crashed 68% despite revenue growth. Management admitted 'we observed that customers are scheduling these bookings for March quarter and are continuing to decrease inventory,' which is the opposite of a healthy recovery. My view changes if March quarter book-to-bill exceeds 1.1 and April shows continued strength, proving demand is real not just deferred.

The 30-second version

  • The real story: Customers are scheduling March delivery for strong bookings, refusing to take December product despite record-low inventories
  • The obvious: Recovery stalling in December after strong Q2, but it's self-inflicted inventory obsession not demand weakness
  • The red flag: Product gross margins jumped to 67.4% on 'rich mix' from data center, but that's unsustainable as core MCU/analog normalizes
