Bottom line
The sleeper story everyone's missing: NAND conversion acceleration from 'several years' to 'majority by end of 2027' represents a massive $25B+ revenue compression into 18 months, not gradual recovery. The obvious headline is WFE upgrade to $140B, but the real signal is gross margin expansion to 50.5% despite mix headwinds - either their operational leverage is exceptional or they have more pricing power than anyone realizes. The binding constraint isn't demand (which is surging) but clean room space, and management's refusal to quantify the impact suggests they either don't know or the numbers are so large they'd spook the market. Most revealing quote: Doug on down payments at 4-year lows - 'The group of customers that generally provided down payments aren't the ones that are growing the quickest.' Translation: quality customers with real balance sheets are driving growth, not financially stretched players. My view changes if gross margins fail to hold above 50% in 2027 or if China revenue stabilizes rather than continuing to decline as a mix percentage.

The 30-second version

  • NAND conversion pull-forward is the sleeper: $40B spending accelerated from 'several years' to 'majority before end of 2027'
  • WFE upgrade to $140B+ signals constraint breakthrough, but margin expansion despite 'slight headwinds' is the real story
  • Customer down payments at 4-year lows while demand surges: customers with real money aren't the ones growing fastest
