Bottom line
HUT has built a utility-scale power platform with 85% contracted capacity that's generating real cash flows, but consolidation accounting makes it invisible while they chase AI customers they can't seem to close. The 1,530MW expansion sounds impressive until you realize they walked away from deals they 'could have announced sooner' because they're being too picky on terms while competitors are signing contracts weekly. The binding constraint isn't power or capital; it's their inability to accept market reality on data center economics. Genoot's tell: 'Everyone on this call is asking where the hell is your deal?' My view changes if they announce even one 50MW+ AI customer at Riverbend by year-end.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper: 85% of power capacity now under 1+ year contracts, up from <30% a year ago, but revenue from those contracts is being eliminated in consolidation
  • The obvious: 1,530MW expansion announced but zero deals signed despite 'strong demand'
  • The red flag: AI customer discussions have 'progressed even faster' yet zero definitive agreements after 6+ months
