Bottom line
The sleeper story is the quiet flip in net new ARR guidance, from 'in excess of' to 'below' constant currency revenue growth, which is a bigger tell about forward bookings health than the headlined net-add miss. The obvious headline, a beat on Q2 revenue and EPS against prior guidance, masks a business where the binding constraint has shifted from demand generation to sales-cycle length and conversion: larger buying committees, C-suite approvals, and self-inflicted trial-and-price friction are all extending time-to-close. Management's own words capture the risk best: 'April got off to a slow start, and the quarter we expected did not fully materialize', language from Q1 that was supposed to be a one-month blip but is now guided to persist 'throughout the remainder of the year'. Watch the disappearance of hard numbers, credit growth rate, Core Seat growth, and the $60K+ cohort, alongside the internally contradictory Customer Agent customer count, as signs that the underlying AI monetization story is softer than the adoption-count headlines suggest. My view changes if the September 17 Analyst Day restores quantified credit consumption growth and gives an actual net new ARR dollar figure; until then, I'd treat the buyback expansion as a signal of balance-sheet confidence, not business-momentum confidence.

The 30-second version

  • The real tell isn't net adds, it's the net-new-ARR flip
  • Revenue and EPS beat the prior guide, but the engine under the hood stalled
  • Two high-signal metrics quietly vanished, and one internally contradicts itself
