Bottom line
The sleeper story is that HIVE is morphing from a bitcoin miner into a dilution machine, selling both equity (22M shares) and bitcoin (148 BTC) to fund speculative Paraguay expansion while their AI pivot stalls. The market sees 4x hashrate growth but misses that they're destroying the 'unencumbered bitcoin treasury' narrative that justified the premium. The binding constraint isn't power or ASICs; it's cash generation, which explains why operating cash flow vanished from the deck. As Darcy admitted when pressed: 'We sold some bitcoin very strategically.' My view changes if they can show positive operating cash flow next quarter without selling more bitcoin.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper: Cash flow from operations lagging net income by 4.7x while receivables balloon
  • Paraguay expansion from 6 to 25 exahash looks transformative BUT they're selling bitcoin to fund it
  • AI revenue narrative crumbling: H100/H200 clusters still not deployed after 6+ weeks
