Bottom line
The sleeper story here isn't the 40% growth raise, it's that operating cash flow fell 23% sequentially to $66 million while EPS jumped 33% to $3.65, and that AE's own hyperscale customer count flipped from 'four' last quarter to 'two significant' this quarter with zero reconciliation. The obvious headline, a beat-and-raise quarter with 2026 growth now guided to ~40% and 2027 directionally 'around 30%', is real and should be respected. But the binding constraint on this business is quietly shifting from factory capacity to engineering bandwidth: 'there are opportunities that we can't address because of engineering bandwidth'. Steve Kelley's own words on CPU demand, treating any new rack build as incremental revenue regardless of chip type, capture the opportunistic framing well, but the cash flow and disclosure inconsistencies are the kind of small cracks that show up before bigger problems do. My view changes if next quarter's OCF snaps back to a higher share of net income and management proactively reconciles the hyperscale customer count; if OCF stays depressed while inventory keeps building into a raised 2027 outlook, that's the first real sign the growth story is outrunning the balance sheet.

The 30-second version

  • Operating cash flow just fell 23% sequentially while EPS jumped 33%, and nobody on the call asked about it.
  • Beat-and-raise headline is real, but the binding constraint quietly shifted from capacity to engineering heads.
  • The hyperscale customer count quietly changed from 'four' to 'two,' and management claimed it was a first-time disclosure.
