Bottom line
The sleeper story is Byte's international rollout timeline getting vaguer just as the platform hits real scale (38K restaurants, 370M transactions). Management went from concrete deployment schedules to 'journey that takes time' language. The obvious headline is record KFC development and Taco Bell momentum, but the binding constraint is KFC's lack of concrete AUV targets compared to Taco Bell's proven $3M roadmap. Most revealing quote: Roy saying Pizza Hut closures are 'early 2026' but won't commit this 'encompasses the totality.' Translation: more closures coming. My view changes if Chris provides specific KFC payback improvement targets and timelines next quarter like Sean did for Taco Bell.

The 30-second version

  • The Byte platform is the sleeper story: 370M digital transactions processed, 38,000 restaurants deployed, but international rollout timeline just got much more vague
  • Pizza Hut closure accelerates: 250 US units closing in H1 2026 is just the appetizer
  • KFC's AUV acceleration plan lacks the Taco Bell specificity that made Sean's $3M target credible
