Bottom line
The sleeper story is Guyana's early cost recovery creating a massive FCF inflection that doubles cash generation by 2030 despite lower production entitlements, yet Wall Street is modeling volumes not value. Yes, they crushed earnings at $14.5B, but that's built on Middle East supply disruption that created temporary chemical windfalls and unsustainable refinery margins. The binding constraint is Qatar rebuild economics: spending 3-5 years and unknown billions to rebuild someone else's assets without disclosed return terms. 'This is about value, not volume' except when it comes to disclosure transparency. My view changes if they restore DSO reporting and provide Qatar rebuild IRR targets.

The 30-second version

  • Guyana's cost recovery completed 2 years early, triggering a massive free cash flow inflection that nobody's modeling correctly
  • Middle East disruption cost 10% of production but earnings still hit $14.5B because the portfolio actually works
  • They're drilling 4-mile laterals in the Permian at scale while everyone else debates peak shale
