Bottom line
The sleeper story is the international segment's swing from +6% to -1.3% growth, quietly buried under a highly promotional Perigold section that gives you a shiny $400M/20%-customer-growth story but zero growth number for the 'vast, vast majority' mass business that actually drives the P&L. The obvious headline, 7.5% revenue growth beating guidance with 6.9% EBITDA margins, is real and should be credited, but the binding constraint on this story is disclosure, not demand: management explicitly deferred store unit economics ('once we have a bit more data') and still hasn't delivered the EBITDA bridge it promised to update last quarter. The real tell is Niraj's repeated insistence not to 'get too micro-focused on gross margin' whenever a specific unit-economics question lands. My view changes if management actually restates the gross leverage ratio, quantifies mass-segment growth, or gives real store-level margin data next quarter; absent that, this reads as strong execution wrapped in increasingly selective disclosure.

The 30-second version

  • International just flipped negative and nobody asked about it twice
  • 7.5% revenue growth beat guidance, but the beat is almost entirely a U.S./Perigold/specialty story layered on top of an unquantified 'mass' core
  • Store unit economics request explicitly deferred, again, and the EBITDA bridge promised in Q1 still hasn't shown up
