Bottom line
The sleeper story is that Zamylocell, last quarter's actively-dosing T1D asset, vanished from the call entirely while VX017 was crowned the new 'lead program' with a conveniently larger addressable population, and nobody on the sell side asked about it. The obvious headline, 12% revenue growth, hides that both newer franchises are decelerating hard on a sequential basis (Casgevi 75%->30% QoQ, Genavix 70%->18% QoQ) even as SG&A growth accelerates to 51% YoY. The binding constraint right now isn't demand, it's disclosure discipline: management explicitly told Duncan's own team to defer POVI metrics until 'the earnings call at the beginning of 2027', a full quarter of narrative control right as the highest-stakes launch in company history begins. Reshma's most telling line of the call, on VX017, was candid but thin: 'Our near-term goals are to demonstrate proof of concept and to scale up manufacturing, with the goal of moving to pivotal development next year', a far cry from the 'exact plans with timelines' she promised investors last quarter. My view changes if Q4 shows Casgevi and Genavix sequential growth reaccelerating and management actually discloses POVI launch metrics in February rather than pushing them out again.

The 30-second version

  • Zamylocell quietly disappeared from the script
  • 12% revenue growth headline masks sequential deceleration in both new launches
  • POVI metric disclosure deferred right before launch, total revenue dollar figure dropped
