Bottom line
The sleeper story everyone will miss: PG just revealed a $1 billion structural margin reset from oil-dependent supply chains that exposes how vulnerable their petrochemical feedstock model is to geopolitical shocks. The obvious headline is 3% organic growth acceleration, but that's mostly base period recovery and Easter timing - strip out the noise and underlying Q3 was really 2%. The binding constraint isn't demand (interventions are working in China, LatAm, Europe), it's cost structure inflexibility when oil spikes. Andre's killer quote: 'Will it be sufficient to offset the full $1 billion after tax, likely not' - first time admitting productivity can't handle the headwinds. My view changes if they can demonstrate pricing power with innovation offsets more than 50% of the cost impact, but their track record suggests they'll protect volume over margins.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper story: Mid-East conflict just handed PG $1 billion in cost headwinds for FY27 AND exposed their oil-heavy supply chain vulnerability
  • Growth acceleration is real but narrow: 7 of 10 categories grew, but it's driven by specific interventions in China/LatAm while US still struggles
  • Red flag: They're now calling Q4 organic sales 'somewhat lower than Q3' due to Easter timing reversal
