Bottom line
The sleeper story here isn't the AI data center beat everyone will write about tonight, it's that automotive quietly flipped from +7% YoY growth to a -1% YoY decline in the same quarter management stopped disclosing the two metrics (book-to-bill, lead times) that would let us independently judge whether that's really 'supply allocation' or early demand softening. The obvious headline is beat-and-raise with 41.2% gross margin and a juicy new $3B+ 2030 AI DC target, but management itself admitted that raise 'is tied to the acquisition' of Ferric, not organic re-acceleration. The binding constraint right now isn't demand, it's capacity catch-up timing: utilization is stuck at 83%, capex just collapsed to 1.6% of revenue, and they're now promising to nearly triple capex intensity to ~5% in 2027 to service both the AI DC ramp and the auto backlog they're deliberately not shipping. My view changes if next quarter's 10-Q shows book-to-bill or lead times re-disclosed and improving, or if automotive actually resumes growth in Q1 as promised; if those metrics stay dark and auto stays soft, this quarter's silence will look like the first crack in the recovery story.

The 30-second version

  • The demand-health gauges quietly disappeared right when auto turned negative
  • AI data center beat is real, but it just got a new denominator and a $600M acquisition stapled to the story
  • Capex collapsed to 1.6% of revenue this quarter, then management guided it to roughly triple next year
