Bottom line
The sleeper story is vertical GaN becoming a real competitive weapon - ON is the only company sampling at scale with GM already locked for 2027 traction systems. Wall Street is fixated on the $250M AI data center number, but the real prize is the $1B+ design funnel spanning automotive zonal architecture to utility storage where ON already has 50%+ share. The binding constraint isn't demand - it's the 700bps underutilization penalty they're eating while systematically exiting $300M of declining-margin business. 'We're the only ones company that has vertical GaN. Which is the highest power density at the highest voltage. Again, a competitive advantage.' My view changes if they can't convert that funnel to revenue in 2026 or if utilization doesn't recover to mid-70s by Q2.

The 30-second version

  • Vertical GaN just started generating revenue quietly - Wall Street is sleeping on the competitive moat
  • AI data center hit $250M but the real story is the funnel explosion to $1B+ across all markets
  • They're exiting $300M of business this year but won't quantify what margins they're walking away from
