Bottom line
The sleeper story is Liberty morphing into a capital-intensive power developer while the Street still analyzes it as an asset-light services company. Yes, the frac market is tightening and yes, pricing will recover, but management's 'high single digit' Q2 guide reveals they're contractually stuck until Q3. The binding constraint isn't demand, it's the $300M of power equipment deposits due before project financing kicks in, creating a working capital crater they're bridging with converts. Most revealing quote: 'Those megawatts have been associated with a different opportunity' about the canceled data center, classic misdirection. My view changes if operating cash flow exceeds $150M when they finally disclose it.

The 30-second version

  • Power business is hitting escape velocity while Street fixates on frac pricing
  • Frac market tightening dramatically but guidance implies they're not capturing it yet
  • Working capital hole emerging as power deposits outpace project finance
