Bottom line
The sleeper story is that GE's delinquency crisis proves they're demand-rich but execution-poor - a 70% increase in late deliveries despite massive investment shows this isn't just good problems to have. The obvious headline is strong Q1 results, but the real story is that Middle East tensions gave management cover to sandbag guidance when they admitted they would have raised it otherwise. The binding constraint isn't demand or backlog ($170B commercial services backlog), it's internal execution and supply chain delivery - they literally can't fulfill what customers want when they want it. Most revealing quote: 'We are failing to meet customer expectations' on spare parts delivery. My view changes if delinquency trends start improving in Q2 or if they provide specific timelines to eliminate it.

The 30-second version

  • SLEEPER: Delinquency crisis is management's admission they can't handle demand
  • Geopolitics gave them cover to avoid raising guidance when Q1 beat by $300M
  • LEAP durability kit penetration stalled at 30% after hitting that milestone
