Bottom line
The sleeper story everyone will miss: SST for AI data centers is not adjacency theater - it's applying their distributed architecture to an 11 GW TAM with real engineering commitment (80+ engineers, demo by year-end). The obvious headline is weak Q1 residential demand, but that's largely known. The binding constraint is actually channel inventory management and their unwillingness to slash prices to clear inventory like competitors. Management quote that matters: 'We are 85% booked to the midpoint of our guidance' shows they have visibility, unlike pure forecast guidance. But watch the Europe narrative closely - sounds like they're buying share with margin compression. My view changes if Propel doesn't expand beyond pilot states by Q3 or if they start reporting commercial metrics in absolutes instead of percentages.

The 30-second version

  • THE SLEEPER: AI data center pivot with IQ SST targeting 11 GW TAM by 2028
  • Propel prepaid lease scaling faster than expected but still pilot-constrained
  • Europe 'green shoots' narrative has no underlying metrics to support it
