Bottom line
The market's celebrating margin beats while missing that DexCom just paid up for a tiny nutrition app because their core CGM adoption is stalling. Management's '50% converted to 15-day by year-end' target reveals they're only at 25-30% now, way behind the victory lap they took in Q1. The binding constraint isn't coverage anymore, it's that even with 7M covered Type 2 lives, they can't crack the utilization code, hence the desperate NutriSense deal. Most revealing quote: revenues from NutriSense are 'millions you can count on one hand', yet they did the deal anyway. My view changes if CMS announces Type 2 coverage before year-end rather than mid-2027, but management's body language suggests they already know that timeline.

The 30-second version

  • The sleeper story: 50% conversion to 15-day by year-end is actually below plan
  • 13% revenue growth masks a US deceleration hidden by FX headwinds
  • NutriSense acquisition signals desperation to juice engagement metrics
