Bottom line
The sleeper story is data center liquid cooling demand exceeding Dover's ability to supply, with management admitting Q2 revenue was capacity constrained, not demand constrained. The 7% headline growth looks fine until you realize they left 100-150bps on the table from a botched refrigeration consolidation that Tobin personally owned. The binding constraint is execution and capacity, not demand: they can't build it fast enough (SWEP) or run their facilities properly (refrigeration). Most revealing quote: 'July? I don't know. I don't think we have closed it.' My view changes if Q3 bookings reaccelerate above Q1 levels and refrigeration margins actually inflect.

The 30-second version

  • Data center liquid cooling is becoming a material driver faster than anyone expected
  • 7% revenue growth masks self-inflicted refrigeration disaster costing 100-150bps
  • Book-to-bill at 1.06 is down from 1.20 in Q1 despite 'constructive' commentary
