Bottom line
The sleeper story isn't prediction markets crossing $200M ARR, it's that three storylines management actively sold last quarter (the CLARITY Act's Senate vote, pre-IPO perps' US rollout, and Coinbase One's subscriber highs) all vanished this quarter with zero update, even as Brian admitted the quiet part out loud: 'the facts on the ground are actually looking a lot better than it's showing up maybe in the overall numbers, which are more flat-ish'. The obvious headline, flat revenue despite a down crypto market, is really a story about core spot trading declining 10% QoQ and being propped up almost entirely by a single new, likely event-driven product. The binding constraint isn't demand, management itself says the hard part in tokenized equities and agentic commerce is building liquidity and network effect, not generating interest, and admits sequencer fees are 'the most direct monetization point...today', implying everything else is still unmonetized. My view changes if next quarter's call restores the Coinbase One, pre-IPO perps, and CLARITY Act disclosures with hard numbers, and if prediction markets ARR holds above $200M once the current sports/political event calendar rolls off.

The 30-second version

  • Three previously-touted storylines quietly vanished this quarter
  • Prediction markets saved a flat quarter, but it's a single-product offset for a declining core business
  • New metrics arrived without denominators, old ones left without goodbyes
