Bottom line
The sleeper story here isn't the beat-and-raise, it's that AI went from a standalone strategic platform story to a single throwaway line, and two metrics management used last quarter to justify confidence (ICRA membership, expansion population %) simply went unrepeated right as work-requirement risk became the dominant Q&A topic. The obvious headline is >$5.20 EPS guidance and accelerated MA breakeven, but the binding constraint into 2027 is Medicaid 1/1 rate finalization, still described as merely 'early but positive signals', and a PDP margin that management itself is guiding back down to 2-3% opening in 2027 after delivering mid-to-high threes this year. My view changes if next quarter's 10-Q shows CFFO normalizing well above net income and if management re-discloses the expansion population percentage with explicit 1/1 rate bps attached, that would convert today's narrative into real binders.

The 30-second version

  • The AI story quietly died on this call
  • Beat-and-raise headline masks a 2027 margin reset nobody's pricing in
  • Two confidence-building metrics from last quarter just vanished
