Bottom line
The sleeper story is Cox transforming Charter into a B2B powerhouse - management called out 'unexpected' enterprise capabilities that could drive revenue synergies nobody's modeling. The obvious headline is more broadband losses, but the real issue is Winfrey's quiet retreat from growth projections after years of convergence investment. The binding constraint isn't competition - it's their inability to convert superior network capabilities into customer consideration at the top of the funnel. As Winfrey admitted: 'Our issue right now really is top of funnel issue... our yield across all channels, it's good and improving. Churn is low.' My view changes if they show material improvement in gross Internet adds in Q2, which would validate the network investment thesis.

The 30-second version

  • The real story: Cox deal transforming Charter into a B2B powerhouse nobody's pricing in
  • Broadband losses accelerating despite all the convergence theater - the strategy isn't working yet
  • They've quietly stopped talking about broadband growth timelines - now it's just 'improved trajectory'
