Bottom line
The sleeper story is capacity, not demand: last quarter ADI put a hard number on its ceiling, 'up to the $20 billion' 2030 vision figure, and this quarter that number is gone, replaced by 'we are scenario planning what this could look like if this kind of growth sustains' alongside an admission that 'lead times have started to extend'. The obvious headline is the first-ever $4 billion quarter and a ~74% gross margin guide, but that margin strength is partially a pricing event still phasing in, not pure mix: 'the full extent of our price action... is not captured in Q4'. The binding constraint has shifted from winning demand to physically supplying it, and management's own language shows they know it. My view changes if next quarter ADI reinstates a specific, larger capacity number with a CapEx commitment attached, that would confirm they've solved the planning gap rather than just discovered it.

The 30-second version

  • The $20 billion capacity ceiling quietly vanished from the script
  • First $4 billion quarter, but the real story is margin mix, not volume
  • Channel inventory is now running BELOW target, not within it
