Bottom line
The sleeper story here isn't the 1 gigawatt milestone or the 862MW YTD order book, it's that wholesale revenue growth has been cut nearly in half (58.1% to 29.3% YoY) while management buries that deceleration under absolute MW records, and that Q1's margin beat is now revealed to have included an undisclosed one-off gain. The obvious headline, record orders and a gigawatt crossed, is real, but it's concentrated in one customer and the 2027 CapEx number that would let us model the backlog got punted to 'early next year'. The binding constraint isn't demand, it's chip supply and customer deployment pace, which management now openly admits: 'the moving pace is a result of multiple factors, and in addition to chip supply, there are also factors related how fast our customers are iterating their models'. My view changes if next quarter's call restores the unit capex metric and gives a real percentage on reservation-to-order conversion rather than 'quite certain' qualitative language.

The 30-second version

  • Wholesale revenue growth quietly cut in half while management talks absolutes
  • Record 862MW YTD orders is the obvious headline, but it's one customer and the CapEx answer got punted
  • The RMB20,000/kW unit capex figure quietly vanished right when overseas unit economics got asked about
