Bottom line
The BVNK acquisition is the sleeper story - Mastercard just bought the AWS of stablecoin infrastructure with basis points revenue model in addressable markets they don't touch today. Everyone will focus on Middle East conflict impact (4% of cross-border volume), but that's temporary noise masking solid execution. The real constraint is switch transaction growth slowing to 9% which directly impacts their 60% network-linked VAS revenue. Miebach: 'This has just been the perfect acquisition at the right time' on cybersecurity demand. My view changes if switch transaction growth doesn't reaccelerate by Q3 or if BVNK integration metrics disappoint.

The 30-second version

  • BVNK acquisition is the sleeper story - stable coin interoperability layer about to unlock massive B2B payout flows
  • Middle East conflict guidance masking solid execution - Q2 at low end, full year unchanged
  • VAS growth decelerated to 18% from 22% - but it's all organic now, no acquisition help
