Bottom line
The sleeper story is international markets driving 14% growth without the new innovations - this is raw sector development paying off and suggests IDXX has cracked the code on international expansion. While everyone focuses on InVue and Cancer Dx, the real growth engine may be overseas where diagnostic penetration is still 'embryonic.' The obvious headline is strong Q3 beats, but the binding constraint remains U.S. clinical visit pressure despite aging pets starting to help. Management's most telling quote: 'We're assuming U.S. clinical visits continue to decline at levels moderately better than the year-to-date average' - they're not banking on the improvement they just reported. My view changes if international growth sustains above 12% for two more quarters - that would signal a genuine long-term growth reacceleration beyond just U.S. recovery.

The 30-second version

  • International CAG recurring revenue hit 14% - highest since COVID - WITHOUT InVue or Cancer Dx
  • InVue hitting $3,500-$5,500 per analyzer utilization target but Q4 placements guide implies sequential slowdown
  • U.S. clinical visits improving but guidance assumes 'modestly better than year-to-date average'
