Bottom line
DBI has improved merchandise economics and reduced borrowing, but Q2’s adjusted operating-profit increase does not survive removal of retained tariff recoveries. The first-half comparison does. The higher annual target deserves monitoring rather than automatic acceptance or dismissal: sustained transaction recovery, refund-independent profits and cash conversion after payable timing reversals are the next evidence required.
