Bottom line
The sleeper story is the 100MW stealth pivot from bitcoin to HPC that reveals either explosive HPC demand OR complete bitcoin mining collapse, though management won't admit which. While the Street celebrates the $8.7B CoreWeave win, the real story is bitcoin mining gross margins went negative 9% with cash costs spiking 42% sequentially, far worse than the halving alone explains. The binding constraint isn't HPC demand or power access; it's that they're 100% dependent on CoreWeave's execution and have zero pricing power in bitcoin mining. Sullivan's tell: 'We're not looking to spend capital prior to having that contract in hand' means they're cash-constrained despite the narrative. My view changes if they sign a non-CoreWeave customer for 50MW+ at similar economics, proving this isn't a one-customer miracle.

The 30-second version

  • The 100MW bitcoin-to-HPC pivot nobody's focusing on is the real tell
  • CoreWeave exercised all options for 500MW, but the $8.7B headline masks deteriorating bitcoin fundamentals
  • They stopped disclosing hosted mining contract details and DSO metrics
