The sleeper story is margin expansion masquerading as a recall quarter - Connected Fitness gross margins would have hit 15.8% excluding recall costs, up 660 bps year-over-year, proving the unit economics are finally working. While everyone obsesses over subscription churn, PTON absorbed a price increase without the subscriber bloodbath Wall Street feared, and they deliberately stopped giving annual sub guidance because they're optimizing for revenue per user, not user growth. The binding constraint isn't demand - it's their ability to scale the commercial business unit and monetize wellness expansion beyond fitness equipment. Peter Stern's most revealing quote: 'We have decided not to provide annual guidance for Ending Paid Connected Fitness Subscriptions because over time, we plan to make trade-offs between pricing for both subscriptions and hardware and subscription growth.' My view changes if Q2 churn spikes above their flat full-year projection or if commercial revenue contribution remains unquantified.
